Get a Permanent Residency in Canada?
Planning on applying for Canada PR from India? Canada provides a wealth of good opportunities to those who are looking for a new beginning. Proceeding to the path of Canadian permanent residency needs thorough planning, diligence, and understanding of the Canadian PR process.
This blog Aptech Visa, will guide you through the steps to Canada PR from India to help you successfully navigate this significant milestone in your life. For a skilled worker seeking Canada PR, IRCC offers several Canada PR pathways, here we will be discussing the Canada PR process from India through the Express Entry Pathway:
Step 1: Check your Eligibility
First, an applicant needs to ensure that he or she is eligible for Canada Express Entry as there are three programs under express entry:
- Federal Skilled Workers Program
- Federal Skills Trade Program
- Canadian Experience Class
Out, of all the three the most common pathway chosen to get Canada PR from India is FSWP for which an applicant must score 67 FSWP points out of 100 to be eligible. These points are measured on your age, work experience, language proficiency, education, job offer letter, adaptability, etc.
Step 2: Get your Education Credential Assessment
An FSW candidate needs to submit a legitimate ECA report attesting to the worth of international education by Canadian standards in order to be eligible to get points for education. In Canada, 7 organizations are permitted to publish ECA reports. For academic degrees earned from Canadian educational institutions, this is not necessary.
Step 3: Results of the Language Proficiency Test
Results from an authorized language exam conducted within the last two years are required for all candidates participating in the Express Entry programs. The CELPIP exam (offered exclusively in Canada) and the IELTS exam are accepted assessments for English proficiency. The Test d’Évaluation de Français (TEF) and the Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada) are recognized assessments for French. Candidates must submit their exam results from an authorized language test in order to apply under the FSW program. Federal Skilled Workers must receive at least a CLB 7 or better in each language exam section in order to achieve the minimal eligibility standards.
Step 4: File for Express Entry
You fill out your Express Entry profile with personal details. The IRCC will assign you a CRS score and admit you into the Express Entry application pool if you meet the eligibility requirements.
No assurance using the pool or completing an Express Entry profile online will result in an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Only after receiving an invitation to apply online is it possible to apply.
Step 5: Apply for the provincial nomination program
This is a step that can be skipped. If you are interested, you may want to consider applying for one of the various provincial nomination processes. In order to address the workforce shortages in certain jurisdictions, several Canadian provinces and territories designate individuals with specialized skill sets and job experiences. You may want to consider applying for the provincial nomination program if you think you possess these kinds of specialist skills. You can gain up to 600 points from this, which can improve your chances of being granted immigration to Canada.
Step 6: Wait for an invitation to apply (ITA)
Those candidates who score the highest in the pool are invited to apply by IRCC. You will have 60 days to submit your application if you are invited to apply.
Step 7: Submit your documents and pay the fee
Pay your fees before the deadline and send in your completed Application for Permanent Residence (APR) to IRCC. This stage requires you to attach your police certificates and the results of your medical examination. After that, you will receive an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) from IRCC.
Step 8: Biometric Request
When requested by the IRCC, provide your biometric information.
Step 9: Get COPR
If your application is accepted, you will be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and, if applicable, a permanent resident visa, enabling you to enter Canada and complete your landing.
